BMC Toys Production Roundup: April 2025

Posted by Jeff Imel on

Trade War Update:
From 1991 through 2018 all BMC Toys products were made in China, and the same factory has been manufacturing the BMC Toys American Heroes product line there since 1998. Today, about half of our products are made in the United States using vintage USA made tooling from the 1950's through the 1990's.

As of April 8th, 2025, BMC Toys product lines manufactured in China will be charged an import tax of either 54% or 104%. It could be more by the time a shipment arrives if the trade war continues to escalate. I am placing a hold on importing until a trade agreement is reached between China and the United States. Without an agreement I have no idea what costs and prices should be. I have already booked and committed to all of our 2025 production which is in progress.

The tools that are used in China may not work well in a US Factory so the future availability of the American Heroes and Classic Toy Soldiers product lines are uncertain unless a reasonable trade agreement is reached.
